Magpie Management believes in projects and events with heart. What exactly does that mean? It means we value the human side of work and put that first. No two projects are ever the same and we love that. It makes the work fun and fresh and the results new every time. After a long history of sibling rivalry, Miranda and Ben were surprised to discover how much fun they had working together as adults. Their collaboration began when Miranda needed video support at an event and the in-house team wasn’t available. Needing something done quickly, she convinced her office to bring on Ben for the three-day event and convinced Ben to fly for forty plus hours for the shoot.

Miranda Barrett, CAE, PMP

Miranda Barrett has organized groups into high-functioning communities around the world for almost twenty years, including the White House Press Corps, private corporations, and entrepreneur-focused delegations. She was a Vice President at the Entrepreneurs’ Organization for ten years, helping the organization to double in size and launch in a dozen new countries. Miranda credits her global community-building skills with being a camp counselor in the mountains of North Carolina. She is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), Project Management Professional (PMP) and MOM to two wild little boys.  

Ben Carland


Ben is a writer, director and editor with ten years of filmmaking behind him. With a BFA in Film Production from FSU Film School, he's directed dozens (maybe hundreds – he stopped counting) of commercial and creative projects for a wide range of clients around the country. When that's not keeping him busy he's also created music videos for Grammy-winning bands, TV programs and two internationally released feature films. He's worked with lots of great people, agencies, and organizations around the world and his non-profit projects have helped raise millions of dollars in support. Over the years he's collaborated with in-house video teams, out-of-house agency operations and directly with marketing managers in smaller operations.


Meet Maggie


We knew we wanted to work together and that we could do very good work for our clients. But we also knew we needed to have fun doing it. And what’s more fun than a giant goofy dog?

Meet Maggie, the adorable but not-especially-bright Saint Bernard that belongs to Ben and his wife. Maggie loves food, sleep and more sleep. Miranda shares her home with Violet, a sweet Labrador mutt who is endlessly patient with her two little boys.
